Come see our newest, freshly-baked offerings!
Every morning since 1932 the aroma of fresh baked Italian bread has coated the nation's capitol with a richness that only comes from the old world. Catania Bakery, originally founded by the Caruso family of Nicolosi in the province of Catania, Sicily, began selling the bread door to door. The brought this old school tradition to the streets of Washington, DC and grew a successful family run bakery. Since then, Catania Bakery has expanded and supplies fresh bread to Washington, Maryland and Northern Virginia Italian restaurants, delis and groceries. Catania Bakery has expanded this old style tradition into a new line of authentic biscotti and Italian cookies.
On Saturdays between 7am and 1pm you can enjoy the rare opportunity to see the bakery from the inside and meet the owner, Nicole Tramonte. She will sell fresh croissants, home made Italian cookies, our famous Italian Biscotti, and the bread we have been making here since 1932. Come early as these items tend to go pretty quick. The bread we make is from all natural ingredients consisting of full strength flour, water, yeast and salt, the recipe is the same old Italian recipe we’ve used from the beginning.
